Box seat holders got a chance to meet Joyce DeWitt Friday night before the last scheduled performance of A Scattered, Smothered & Covered Christmas at the Royal Palace Theatre.
The meet and greet was planned by the Roanoke Avenue Business Alliance, which will receive a portion of the proceeds to carry on its revitalization efforts in the uptown and downtown business districts.
“We’re very grateful to the owners of the Royal Palace Theatre in offering an opportunity to RABA to continue to work on our projects,” said Sherry Hux, Roanoke Rapids Main Street director.
Mayor Emery Doughtie also said he was appreciative of the opportunity.
Hux called DeWitt an, “absolutely amazing individual,” who shopped locally while she was here. “We appreciate you being so involved in our community. You’ve just been so real, so wonderful and gracious.”
DeWitt said she was able to be herself in Roanoke Rapids. “Everyone in the community has been talking about the theater. It’s exciting.”
DeWitt said she was especially appreciative of the cast of locals chosen to perform with her. “They were wonderful. Their voices were utterly amazing. The local people are delicious and extremely talented.”
