The Halifax Resolves Chapter of the North Carolina Society of Sons of the American Revolution recently honored Roanoke Rapids City Councilwoman Suetta Scarbrough and Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Detective John Richard Somogyi.

Somogyi was awarded the law enforcement commendation medal and Scarbrough was awarded the bronze good citizenship medal.

The law enforcement award is presented to an individual who is serving with distinction and devotion and recognizes exceptional service and accomplishment in the field of law enforcement.  An individual may only receive this award once.

Chapter President Ken Wilson presented the award. Halifax County Sheriff Jeff Frazier, Chief Deputy Wes Tripp and Major Bruce Temple also attended the meeting.

Scarbrough is presented her award.

The citizenship award recognized Scarbrough’s tireless service to the citizens of Roanoke Rapids and her support of many local organizations, especially area veterans, a press release from Wilson said.
