An estimated six juveniles were allegedly caught in the act of vandalism Saturday night, according to Roanoke Rapids police.

The juveniles, ranging in age from 13 to 15, were allegedly responsible for smashing pumpkins, breaking windows and using a Tide laundry pen to write on car windows.

Between eight to nine areas of the city were hit. Lieutenant Bruce Norton caught the juveniles in the act and Officer Roy Ball assisted in the investigation, which determined the juveniles allegedly committed acts Friday night.

The police department will be contacting juvenile authorities today, Major Tommy Hathaway said.

The crimes constitute destruction of property, trespassing and vandalism.
