A camping trip went awry when the victim woke up and found his camping companion allegedly stole his vehicle.

Wayne Clark Williams of Roanoke Rapids and Ernest Henry Hux Jr. went to Medoc Mountain State Park in Hollister.

On September 30, Deputy Danny Radford of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office investigated and made an arrest in the case.

Chief Deputy Wes Tripp said Radford charged Hux with larceny of a motor vehicle. Hux has a November 7 court date.

The two men were camping together and after waking up, Williams discovered Hux had left and Williams’ car was gone.

Later that day Williams found his vehicle at Hux’s residence.

Tripp said it is not clear why Hux allegedly stole the vehicle.
