An Enfield man will get credit for time served in jail awaiting trial but faces three years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to indecent liberties with a minor and incest.

The plea of Marcus Caudle, 19, took place during jury deliberations today in the Richard Demello murder trial.
Caudle has been in custody since February. Judge Alma Hinton ordered him to serve 16 to 19 months for the indecent liberties with a minor charge, in which the offense occurred on January 2. That sentence was suspended in lieu of the six months in prison, in which the time he spent in jail accounted for.
The sentence came with a litany of conditions including he register as a sex offender for 30 years and pay the court a fee of at least $900 to cover attorney fees in the case.
In the incest case, which occurred on October 1, 2011, he was ordered to serve 16 to 20 months under split sentencing, in which a defendant serves a portion of time in jail or prison before being placed on probation with a suspended sentence.
In determining the sentence, the court said Caudle does not require the highest level of supervision and he was not charged as a predator or aggressive offender.
Halifax County District Attorney Melissa Pelfrey told the court the charges against Caudle stem from an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old female family member.
