A Scotland Neck man was charged Tuesday on firearms possession counts following an investigation by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and the town police department.

Detective R. Somogyi of the sheriff’s office said in a press release the sheriff’s office received a report the firearm was stolen from a residence in Scotland Neck.

The joint investigation led to the arrest of 25-year-old Marcus Shane Watkins, who was charged with larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He was jailed on $7,000 bond and has an October 17 court date.
