The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted abduction that occurred in the 600 block of Smith Church Road shortly before 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim told investigators a dark, older model Chevrolet van pulled up beside her and stopped.

The rear passenger door opened and a man with black hair and light skin, possibly Hispanic, attempted to pull her inside, according to Chief Deputy Wes Tripp.

The man was wearing all black clothing.

A struggle ensued but abruptly stopped when a vehicle approached the scene, making the victim believe the men in van became frightened.

There were at least three men in the van.

Investigators are interested in locating any witnesses, especially whoever was driving the approaching vehicle.
