A citizen complaint led to the confiscation of four marijuana plants found inside a dog pen this morning.

Narcotics Agent A. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Lieutenant N. Aycock, Sergeant R. Keeton, and Deputy D. Radford followed up on a citizen complaint about marijuana being grown in the Deer Run Drive area of Roanoke Rapids.

When deputies arrived at the residence they discovered four marijuana plants growing inside of a dog pen in the back yard.

Of the four marijuana plants, the largest plant was approximately seven feet tall.  Deputies seized the marijuana plants and several items of drug paraphernalia, which included marijuana pipes, metal scales and a marijuana grinder from the residence.

Timothy Wayne Brooks was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacture marijuana.

He was was released on a $6,000 unsecured bond with a September 5 court date.

Lieutenant Scott Hall said the plants had not yet reached maturity. Mature plants carry a $2,400 per plant tax value.
