This Saturday’s Wings and Wheels Fly-In will feature a first.
A paratrooper, for the first time in the United States, will make a parachute jump from a light sport aircraft, according to Douglas Hempstead, president of Allegro LSA in Littleton.
The FAA approved light sport aircraft in September of 2004. This will be the first jump from one of these two-passenger aircraft, with Ross Kennedy piloting the Allegro and Cyrus Ahyoug making the jump.
Kennedy has more than 1,000 hours in the Allegro along with more than 12,000 hours flying.
Ahyoug is a jumpmaster with hundreds of jumps to his credit.

The jump is scheduled for around 10 a.m. at the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport where the fly-in is held.
The fly-in is a charitable event to raise money for veterans, veterans’ families and events for veterans.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and goes until 5 p.m., regardless of weather.
Tuskegee airmen have been invited to attend and it will feature radio-controlled Warbirds, plane rides around the airport for a donation of $25 or more, a variety of military planes, cars and motorcycles.
Bill Robinson, the longest enlisted prisoner of war, will be at the event and all veterans will be honored.
Children’s inflatables will be at the event as well as Andy the Ambulance and Lakeland Theater’s A Soldier’s Look Back will perform numbers from the show.
Food vendors will be on hand and there will be live music.
