The Halifax County Sheriff's Office is currently looking for Jesse James Bridgers Jr. in connection with a domestic kidnapping that allegedly occurred in the Roanoke Rapids area this morning.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin said the call was received around 6:15 and warns people do not approach Bridgers but call the nearest law enforcement agency or 911.

Martin said the sheriff’s office received a call about a kidnapping from the parking lot of Halifax Regional Medical Center. The victim told law enforcement she was made to drive to Interstate 95 and while on the interstate Bridgers attempted to cause them to wreck.

The vehicle was traveling south and spun out facing north. The victim was able to get out of the car and flag down a vehicle for help. As she did, Bridgers attempted to run her, and the other subjects that stopped to help, down in the victim’s car.

No one was hurt and Bridgers sped off.

Bridgers, 27, stands 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has a slender build and brown hair in a ponytail.

He is believed to be driving a silver 2000 Saturn with North Carolina tags ABS-3104.

Warrants have been filed for two counts assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, larceny of a motor vehicle and communicating threats.
