Four of the men charged in a Virginia Beach motel robbery now face charges in the armed robbery of the Village Grocery at the intersection of Highway 48 and Smith Church Road, along with another man not tied to the Virginia crime.
Investigators with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the five men were arrested today in connection with the Sunday night robbery of the Village Grocery, which occurred shortly before 10:30.

Investigation by Detective R. Somogyi revealed the alleged involvement of the five men — Maurice Sneed, 24 of Roanoke Rapids; Darius Casey, 21 of Emporia; Jaquan Cheek, 22 of Roanoke Rapids; Leroy Harris, 25 of Garysburg, and Herbert Bynum, 30 of Roanoke Rapids.
The men all face charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Bynum
Of the five arrested, only Bynum was not involved in the Virginia Beach robbery, according to a sheriff’s office press release. The four allegedly involved in the VirginiBeach robbery remain in custody there while Bynum was jailed in Halifax today under $25,000 bond and given a June 27 court date.
