A Weldon area man has been charged with allegedly stealing personal belongings in the Bush Court area.

Detective O.L. Wiltsie of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said on January 16 and February 9 deputies responded to breaking and entering calls in the Weldon community.

Deputies M.F. Almendarez and D.C. Dickens received information on a possible suspect, who was later identified as Douglas Mead, who lives in the community.

Wiltsie assisted in the investigation, which led to Mead’s arrest on charges of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, breaking and entering a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny.

Mead, 30, was jailed on $5,000 bond and has a March 28 court date.

None of the items taken, personal belongings and money, were recovered, Wiltsie said.
