Two Rocky Mount men have been jailed for three break-ins that occurred in the South Brown Road area of Enfield Wednesday.

An adult pit bull was stolen in the crime and has not been recovered, Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said today. It could not immediately be determined whether the dog was stolen for possible baiting for preparing other dogs for fighting.

Deputy O. Wiltsie responded to a call about a home being broken into. Deputy Wiltsie got a description of a vehicle and the occupants in the car. While still working in the area he received a call about the vehicle being seen in the Enfield town limits.

Once in the area, Deputy Wiltsie, along with officers from the Enfield Police Department, stopped a vehicle fitting the description.

The deputy learned that Rodrick Hill, 22, and Anthony Hendricks, 21, were the occupants. The men have ties to the Enfield area, Martin said.

Deputy Wiltsie also discovered evidence that connected the two to the break-ins on South Brown Road and placed them under arrest. He recovered some of the property in the car.

While still investigating the case, Deputy Wiltsie also learned of a third breaking and entering in the same area.

Martin said as the deputy booked Hill and Hendricks at the sheriff’s office, Lieutenant Neil Aycock responded to the third breaking and entering and he and Wiltsie identified additional stolen property.

Hill was charged with three counts of breaking and entering, three counts of larceny after breaking and entering, one count of possession of stolen goods, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, one count of larceny of a dog and two counts of injury to property. He was jailed on $70,000 bond and has a March 30 court date.

Except the possession of a firearm by a felon charge, Hendricks faces the same charges as Hill and was jailed on $50,000 bond. He has the same court date.
