Roanoke Rapids police officers Christopher Jordan and Mike Moseley received a call shortly after 1:30 from an anonymous caller that Lawrence Dustin “01” Carroll was seen running in the 500 block of Harris Street with a purse. He allegedly tossed two radar detectors in a trash can.

Further investigation led officers to find marijuana and paraphernalia on him.  At his house at 502 Harris Street the officers found items allegedly linking him to other motor vehicle break-ins in the area, including a digital camera, coins, a purse and glass smoking pipe.

Carroll, 21, was charged with six counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, six counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, six counts of possession of stolen goods, one count possession of marijuana and one count possession of paraphernalia.

Captain Andy Jackson said the break-ins began around February 20 and ended with Carroll’s arrest Sunday morning. Break-ins were reported on Harris Street, Whitaker Street and Cleveland Street.

Carroll was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a March 16 court date.
