A man arrested Wednesday for a breaking and entering tried to run from a deputy as he was being booked.

Alexander Ezell of Roanoke Rapids faces charges of felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony larceny of a firearm, felony possession of stolen goods, felony possession of a stolen firearm, injury to real property and resisting arrest.

Halifax County Deputy H.G. Phillips investigated a breaking and entering Tuesday and developed Ezell as a suspect and arrested him Wednesday, according to Detective Tyree Davis.

While turning Ezell over to the jail facility he allegedly attempted to run out of the sheriff’s office to escape custody.

He was jailed on $13,000 bond and has a November 23 court date and charges on others allegedly involved are pending.
