A mother and son were both jailed following an argument which led to her stabbing him in the leg with a knife Monday night.
Detective Doug Pilgreen of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release deputies were called to 55 Mills Street in Roanoke Rapids.Officers learned Lorraine Shearin, 72, allegedly stabbed her son, Dennis, during an altercation. He said Lorraine allegedly stabbed her son because he refused to keep quiet after demands he shut up.
Dennis, 47, allegedly assaulted his mother and both were treated and released to jail.
Dennis was charged with assault on a female and his mother was charged with assault with a deadly weapon by Corporal Mike Almendarez.
Lorraine Shearin was jailed on $500 bond and Dennis was jailed on $1,000 bond.Both have September 19 court dates.
It is not clear what the argument was about.
