A Roanoke Rapids man has been cleared of a second-degree kidnapping charge in an April case but did plead guilty to assault on a female this week.
A probation release violation against Jonathan Lucas was consolidated with the assault on a female charge and the 18-year-old Lucas was given a suspended 75 day sentence with 12 months probation.
The charges stemmed from a case on April 29 where Lucas holed up in a house on Brickell Street for two hours.
He was wanted for second-degree kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl who he allegedly abducted at knifepoint from the Roanoke Rapids High School parking lot.
