A 16-year-old Roanoke Rapids girl has been charged in a cutting which injured a student and faculty member at Roanoke Rapids High School today.
Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said Ryshea Shakira Alston, of the 900 block of Henry Street, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
She allegedly used a broken bottle to injure a student and the faculty member was injured while trying to break up the fight. Alston also injured herself in the fight which occurred outside shortly before 9:30 a.m.
A motive is not known and Alston was jailed on $3,000 bond.
Police declined to name the victims, who did not have life threatening injuries.
