The Roanoke Rapids Police Department and Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following drug arrests:

RRPD

Interim police Chief Bobby Martin said in a statement Wednesday at approximately 2:10 p.m., narcotics agents and PACE team members responded to 7 Meacham Drive to follow up on drug complaints received from the public.

Agents encountered Walter Patillar, 29, and could detect the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the apartment while speaking with him.

Patillar came outside of his apartment without trouble and officers conducted a search of the apartment.

They located 15 grams of marijuana, an assault rifle and paraphernalia.

Patillar was charged with possession of marijuana, maintain a dwelling for controlled substance, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

He received a $3,000 bond and June 5 court date.

Captain A.M. Harris said in a statement on Tuesday at approximately 1:20 p.m., narcotics agents went to the 1300 block of Hamilton Street in Roanoke Rapids on a drug complaint.

Agent R. Ball seized marijuana and arrested Johnathan Ward, 31, for possession of marijuana less than one-half ounce and for an outstanding Nash County order for arrest.

Ward received a $500 bond with a May 31 court date for the order for arrest and a $1,000 bond for the drug charges with a July 8 court date.

The Nash County court appearance is for driving while license revoked.

On Tuesday shortly after 3 p.m., agents went to the 1300 block of Edwards Street in Weldon to follow up on a drug complaint. During the encounter with a resident, a shotgun and marijuana was seized.

Calvin McKinley Hughes, 36, of the residence, was arrested by Agent D.K. Newsome for possession of firearm by felon and possession of marijuana less than one-half ounce.

He received a $10,500 bond and June 12 court date.

On Wednesday shortly before 5 p.m., Ball was in the area of Highway 158 near South Rosemary and stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation.

Ball arrested and charged Brandon Javon Bullock, 24, of Edwards Street in Weldon, for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana less than one-half ounce and fictitious/altered registration number plate.

Bullock received a $2,500 bond with a July 8  court date.

These arrests were the result of information received from Lieutenant C. Emerson Carroll and Chief Deputy Scott Hall. Agents will continue to follow up on the drug complaints on Edwards Street.
