Tuesday at approximately 10:19 p.m., Officer C. Roberts was patrolling in the area of Smith Church Road and Highway 158 near Walgreens when he noticed a vehicle with a headlight out.

Roberts detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. He located a handgun along with marijuana, a pipe, digital scales and a grinder.

The driver was identified as Tyvon Artis, 32, of Jackson.

Artis was taken into custody and charged with possession of schedule VI and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

He received a $1,000 bond and June 10 court date.

Officer H. Marshall assisted.

This morning at approximately 4:08, Roberts was dispatched to HRMC about a person being belligerent to staff.

The person walked over to Roberts and continued to act belligerent to the officer and staff.

The person, Rokenia Lassiter, 21, of Weldon, was asked to leave but refused.

She would not comply with the officer’s commands and pushed him as he tried to get her to leave.

She was arrested and carried before a magistrate where she was charged with assault on a government official, and resist, delay, and obstruct.

She was transported to Halifax where she received a $500 bond and June 10 court date.

Marshall and Officer D. Newsome assisted.
