A third person was arrested and charged today in the February shooting of a Roanoke Rapids man.
Saleem Moore, 27, who was charged today, is the brother of Latina Moore, the first person charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Cormani Burnett, Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said. Ti’Maeus Copeland, who was charged Wednesday, is the Moores' cousin.

HCSO Detective I. Miller said this afternoon that the murder is related to a past relationship Latina had with Burnett.
“Investigators with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division continue to follow up on every piece of information provided in this murder investigation,” Harris said in a statement.
Saleem was located in the Roanoke Rapids area this morning around 11:30 and was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The HCSO Criminal Investigations Division, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, and the HCSO Community Action Team assisted Miller with Saleem’s arrest.
The warrant for possession of a weapon by a convicted felon says that Saleem, of Roanoke Rapids, was in possession of a Smith & Wesson rifle despite being sentenced to 24 months of supervised probation in January 2020. He had been convicted for an August 2016 break-in of a motor vehicle.
Saleem was confined to the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond.
Burnett was found dead in his work truck on the evening of February 23 with gunshot wounds.
The fatal shooting occurred in the parking lot of a convenience store at Highway 48 and Rhea Smith Road.
Harris said the case remains under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Miller at 252-645-9611.
