Incumbent State Representative Rodney Pierce emerged as the unofficial winner in the House District 27 race, defeating former Representative Michael Wray by a 64.17 percent to 35.83 percent margin on Tuesday. 

Pierce will advance to face Republican Kenneth Bentley in the November general election.

In the race for the three at-large seats on the Halifax County Board of Commissioners, incumbents Vernon Bryant and Chenoa Richardson Davis, along with former Halifax County Board of Education member Tyus Few, secured victories. They will face Republican candidates — incumbent Sammy Webb, Chuck Hasty, and John Whichard — in November. The three top vote-getters in the November race will become board members.

Chris Kidd was elected as the Halifax County Clerk of Superior Court, defeating Weldon attorney Ronnie Reaves by a margin of 60.48 percent to 39.52 percent.

In the Halifax County Schools Board of Education race:

Incumbent Michael Hawkins Sr. and newcomers Elizabeth “Lizzie” Silver and Curtis W. Young won seats while incumbents Joyce Lashley and Claude “Clutch” Cooper lost.
