State Representative Rodney Pierce will hold his first Bringing the Capital to the Constituents series on March 28 with North Carolina Secretary of Military and Veteran Affairs Jocelyn Mallette and  public safety Secretary Eddie Buffaloe Jr. as the featured guests.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. at American Legion Post 38 located at 717 American Legion Road in Roanoke Rapids.

“This is a unique chance to learn more about how these departments impact our community and everyday lives, ask questions, and provide feedback on how we can continue to improve government transparency and service to the people,” Pierce said.

Mallette

As a third-generation service member, she accepted Governor Josh Stein’s nomination and leads the department in its mission to support the military community in North Carolina, including the active duty personnel and their families, installations, and adjacent communities; and to support the state’s veterans and their families.

“The department provides access to a full spectrum of resources that further enhance North Carolina’s military and veteran friendly environment — from collaborative opportunities for business development to access to healthcare,” Pierce said.

Buffaloe

Buffaloe serves as the sole representative on the governor's cabinet for the state's law enforcement, juvenile justice, emergency management, homeland security, the NC National Guard and the Office of Recovery and Resiliency.

The department has more than 6,000 sworn law enforcement and civilian employees, along with more than 10,000 NC National Guard soldiers and airmen.
