A Tuesday night saturated patrol by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department and the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force in the downtown area of the city netted the following, according to Lieutenant Morgan Worrell:

36 vehicle stops

6  North Carolina State citations

3 arrests

1 firearm seized

163.5 grams of marijuana seized

2 Suboxone strips seized

“We will continue to work with our local law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of our citizens,” Worrell said. “The hardworking and dedicated officers of Roanoke Rapids and Halifax County truly care about our citizens and this community.”

The task force is made up of deputies from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Roanoke Rapids Police Department. “This partnership allows for more manpower and resources to combat the war on illegal drugs in Halifax County,” she said.
