To raise awareness of renewable energy and its importance locally, regionally, and globally, the Center for Energy Education will welcome high school students to its campus Friday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a clean energy career fair.

The center is located at 460 Airport Road in Roanoke Rapids.

The free event will showcase the range of workforce opportunities and career paths within the ever evolving and fast-growing clean energy space.

Juniors and seniors from high schools and early colleges within the Roanoke Valley and surrounding rural counties will visit tables of participating renewable energy representatives.

“The renewable energy industry is essential to our youth and their environments,” said Whitney Sessoms, workforce and education manager. “C4EE can inform these students of their potentially transformative educational and career pathways.”

C4EE values community partnerships, notably with government, academic, industry and research allies, to leverage solutions for rural communities. Clean energy assets and STEM exhibits from industry and universities will be on display to highlight the range of options and tools for renewable energy job opportunities and economic growth.

“Our event will also highlight renewable energy solutions that underscore the economic impacts of renewables as a rural industry,” said Mozine Lowe, C4EE’s executive director. “Our participants will see through demonstrations of current research ideas and methods with planning and collaboration, rural communities can maximize economic value in our backyards.”
