The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Bobby Martin:
A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested and charged Friday on multiple counts involving the breaking and entering of 16 vehicles in different neighborhoods of the city.
Halifax County commissioners today approved a request from Weldon City Schools to put on the March 3 ballot a referendum calling for voters to consider increasing the school system’s supplemental tax from the current 20 cents per $100 of valuation to the maximum allowable amount of 50 cents per $100 of valuation.
Garysburg and other fire departments across the Roanoke Valley remain on the scene as of this report at a blaze which occurred at John B. Sanfilippo & Son off Highway 46.
