Roanoke Rapids police are investigating at least six motor vehicle break-ins which occurred in five neighborhoods of the city.

Chief Bobby Martin said the crimes are believed to have occurred between 11 p.m. Monday and 6 this morning. He said detectives are investigating to determine whether the vehicles were locked or unlocked or a combination of both.

In a statement this morning Martin said the break-ins occurred in the 700 block of Vance; 1300, 1100 and 100 blocks of Charlotte; and 800 block of Madison. Items were removed from the vehicles.

“The police department reminds everyone to secure their vehicles and remove all valuables that may be seen through the windows,” Martin said in the statement. “If you live in these areas and have cameras please review them. You may have captured an image of the suspect (or suspects) moving through the neighborhoods.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2898 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
