Several Roanoke Valley athletes who cheer for Cheer Extreme Out of Raleigh participated in the Summit Cheer competition in Orlando Florida this past weekend.
The 2016 Summit, Varsity All Star’s Cheerleading and Dance Championship held at the Walt Disney World® Resort had over 900 teams from the Unites Stated and various countries including, Norway, Australia and Japan to name a few.
Approximately 3% of the top gyms in the United States earn bids to compete at this competition. So just earning a bid to this competition was an accomplishment.
Faran Faucette, as well as Brantley Harrison competed on the large level 4.2 senior coed Angels team and won by 1.2 points with a raw score of 96. Karson Hasty and Susannah Davis were on large youth X level 4 coed Sharkbites team and won with a raw score of 93.74. Both of these teams competed in the wildcard round on Friday and went on to finals on Sunday.
Davis also performed with Senior Open level 5 Dragon Slayers, as did Madison Elias and placed 7th on Sunday. Madison also competed with Kernersville CEA team junior level 5 Crush finishing 2nd on Sunday.
Several teams from CEA Raleigh competed and went on to finals on Sunday. Taylor Phelps and Slade Canady performed on large Senior 4 all girl Berries, coming in 8th place on Sunday. Phelps is also on large level 3 senior 3Lite placing 4th on Sunday. Megan Beals performed on large level 2 youth Mermaids as finalists at The Summit and were first place winners at The One in Tampa.
Angels and Sharkbites received individual National Champions banners and will receive 2016 Summit National Champions Rings. Mermaids will also receive 2016 The One National Champion Rings. They will hold a ring ceremony sometime over the summer once the rings arrive.
Also Cailyn Jackson performed the weekend prior to summit also in Orlando on IAG: With IAG Cougars winning gold medal in the US Finals with a score of 122 and silver for Worlds.
