The Kirkwood Adams Community center in Roanoke Rapids was filled by baseball talk Tuesday night as the Roanoke Rapids Youth Baseball Association (RRYBA) inducted three Valley men into the 2015 class of the "RRYBA Hall of Fame".

City & County officials were present as were many of the 1982 championship team to witness the second year of the Roanoke Rapids Youth Baseball Association's Hall of Fame inductees.

First year HOF inductee Al Haskins was the events MC.  Current League president Todd Lockamon gave the crowd an update on league numbers and projects in the works for the upcoming year such as a new bathroom and concession stand, grass infield at Dickens field and a brick backstop with netting on King field. Projects should be complete just in time for the Under 9 2016 Cal Ripken's Southeast Regional Tournament that is set to be held here in Roanoke Rapids.

Guest speaker Les Abshire from the 1982 championship team touched on his memories and what his days of playing Little League baseball in the Roanoke Valley. Abghire stated, "I tell everyone I live in Wake Forest, but my home is Roanoke Rapids."

The first 2015 inductee was former Administrator and Umpire Willard L. Oliver. Oliver umpired for 25 years and was also the Assistant State District Administrator.

Next inductee was former coach James "Crow Allen who in 1982 coached the Roanoke Rapids U15 All-Stars win the District, State and Divisional championships and Runner-ups in the Southeast Regionals, The highest reached level any Roanoke Rapids team has reached to date.

Last inductee was former coach Sydney Edwards who also coached for many years. Edwards was an Assistant Coach of 1982 All-star team  & Head Coach of the 1983 team that won a District & State Championship, Divisional Championship & finished third in the Southeast Regionals. Won U18 ENC State Championship in 1986.
