A game, ball players dream of.
Baseball and softball players dream of a game like this past weekend
for Roanoke Rapids resident Lee Powers. Powers a professional men's
slow-pitch softball player, spent this past weekend in Maryville Tennessee
in the USSSA 46th annual Smoky Mountain Classic, playing for the Winter
Haven Florida “Resmondo-Specialty Tank Worth” team.
Team Resmondo made it to the Championship game and down by two runs,
the bases are loaded and bottom of the 7th and Powers is up to bat and the
count is two and two. Powers swings on the next pitch and hits a grand-slam
home-run to win the Championship game.Powers finished the tournament with
17 home-runs and 30 RBI's in seven games.
