Roanoke Rapids lady Jacket Sierra Hearp headed to Oklahoma.
The Lady Lightning East Fastpitch Softball team has qualified for the ASA 16U Gold Nationals to be held in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma July 21st -26th. Just to qualify for this tournament is quite an accomplishment. There are only 12 qualifying tournaments held in the nation every year, and the Lady Lighting East were fortunate to be one of the last four teams standing this past weekend in Disputanta, Virginia. The final game was a hard-fought victory against the Oregon Blaze and insured a berth in this national tournament.
The ASA 16U Gold Nationals is considered by many to be one of the most prestigious high school age tournaments in the Nation. The top teams in the US have all been vying for one of 48 coveted spots in this event and only the top four in each region will qualify. Lady Lighting East are proud to represent our district which includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.
The Lady Lighting East team was formed last year and is a collection of some of the best high school softball talent in N.C. Based out of the Clinton/Faison area, our players represent ten counties, predominately in the Eastern part of the state. Our goal as an organization is promoting our players talent and our local area through qualifying for tournaments like this one, and providing our young ladies with the opportunity to continue their softball careers beyond their high school years at the college level.
