Halifax Academy Soccer Ends Run in Quarterfinals of State Playoff

The Halifax Academy Vikings girls soccer team loses 2-1 in the quarterfinal round game of the NCISAA State 1A playoffs against Neuse Christian Academy from Raleigh.

The Lady Vikings started the game quickly with high energy and looked to dominate, but Neuse quickly gained traction and found ways to exploit their speed on the offensive side of the field.  Neuse was able to convert on a breakaway and a shot from distance to take a 2-0 lead into the half.

The 2nd half proved to be a battle with the Halifax Academy players coming out with more aggressive play and took the attack to NCA.  Ten minutes into the second half. Abby George found the back of the net from 30 yards on a direct kick.  Several good chances by the Vikings were turned away throughout the rest of the game, but ultimately the Neuse defense was able to preserve the win.

This team played hurt all year but they never let that stop them from competing with everything they had until the final whistle.” said Coach Tim George.  “I know these girls deserve some time to heal, but we weren’t ready to for it to end.  I’m very proud of what the team has accomplished this year and the program looks to be moving in the right direction.”

Halifax Academy finishes the season with a 5-12-3 record with the final loss as the only loss at the hands of a 1A team.
