The Roanoke Rapids based Carolina Sluggers U-8 travel baseball team opened the 2014 season.
The Sluggers traveled to Snow Hill for the one day "EC Nations NC East Division Spring State Championship" tournament. The team finished 2nd with a 2-1 record.
They beat Pirate team 7-2 and the Bobcat team 12-6 and lost to the Archers team 16-5.
