Chaloner and Southampton make it an all day affair
Chaloner Middle baseball battled back from the loser bracket to beat Southampton in the if game 15-1 to win the Halifax Academy's 2013 Easter Tournament. Head coach Brandon Clay stated, "One of the best TEAM efforts I have seen in a long time. I am Amazed by these young guys stepping up. I am so Lucky to coach a great group of young men.
Tyler Shearin was the story of the weekend though. The kid came off the bench and dominated the lastinnings of the first championship game, then shut down the strong hitting Southampton team for nearly the entire if game. He was taken out after he got the first out of the last inning. He was named tournament MVP. Tyler Liverman and Bracey Irby and Cameron Rogerson made all tournament team.
Both Southampton and Chaloner had over a twelve hour day at the field with thier first game against each other in the winners bracket at 11 am. Southampton ended up playing three games while Chaloner had to play four games, with the second championship game ending around 11 pm.
