Winter Wells Fargo Conference Cup Standings Announced
Wells Fargo, along with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, today announced the standings in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup competitions for the 2012-2013 winter sports season.
The Wells Fargo Cup award, sponsored by Wells Fargo and the NCHSAA, recognizes the high schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state’s four competitive classifications. The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is a companion to the Wells Fargo Cup and recognizes schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within individual conferences. Wells Fargo and formerly Wachovia has sponsored the conference awards program since 1980.
Tar Roanoke 1-A: Gates County is still the conference leader after the winter, capturing a league title in women’s basketball. KIPP Pride and North Edgecombe are now in a deadlock for second, and both schools will look to the spring season to break the tie. Northern Carolina 2-A: With a wonderful winter season including championships in men’s basketball, wrestling, men’s swimming, and women’s swimming, Corinth-Holders solidifies its top spot in the conference. Roanoke Rapids breaks its fall deadlock with Franklinton to claim sole possession of second, thanks to second-place finishes in men’s and women’s swimming. Franklinton finds itself in third with a runner-up finish in wrestling but is still close behind Roanoke Rapids.
