Roanoke Valley Assault basketball Win
The Roanoke Valley Assault 8th grade AAU basketball team went to Richmond Va this past Saturday and won the Capital City Classic. They won three games in route to the championship.
The first game they come back from a 13 point deficit to win by 16 66-50. "We got alittle selfish offensively at the end of the half but did a better job the second half sharing the ball" said head coach George Collins.
The second game the team came from a deficit to win by 8. "The second game we did alot better job defensively the second half and that was the difference" said Collins.
The championship game was alot easier than the first two as Assault pulled away early and cruised to a nineteen point win to seal the title. "We have a nice mix of bigs and guards and guys who can play multiple positions," added Collins.
The team is made up of players from schools in the area. Collins stated, "that they get along great after battling all year in middle school competing against each other. The players are Tyler Acree, Kevin Arrington, Raquan Boswell, Jordan Collins, Armotti Harvey, Josh Hawkins, D J Jones, Peyton Jackson, Moses Khedi, Tyrabia Kearney, Tyjarek Simmons, Semaj Smith and Quincy Vann. The team will travel to Raleigh and play next weekend.
