PUBLIC NOTICE

ADVERTISEMENT FOR SEALED BIDS

SALE OF CERTAIN SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY

The City Council of the City of Roanoke Rapids has authorized the sale by sealed bid of the following parcel of real property:

Old Fire Station No. 2 located at 1620 Hamilton Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

The City will accept sealed bids for the property until 12:00 Noon, Monday, April 19, 2021 at the office of the City Manager, Roanoke Rapids City Hall, 1040 Roanoke Avenue, Roanoke Rapids, N. C.  27870.  Immediately thereafter, all bids received shall be opened in public and the amount of each bid announced and recorded.  Each bid must be accompanied by a bid deposit of five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid.  A bid deposit may take the form of cash, a cashier’s check, a certified check, or a surety bond.  The deposit of the bidder to whom the award is made will be held until sale of property is closed; if that bidder refuses at any time to close the sale, the deposit will be forfeited to the City.  The deposits of other bidders will be returned at the time City Council awards the property to the highest responsible bidder.

The sale shall be closed within 60 days of award by City Council, or the deposit shall be forfeited to the City.

In order for a bid to be considered, a bidder shall not be delinquent on any property taxes, fees, liens, or other payments due the City.

The Roanoke Rapids City Council reserves the right to withdraw the property from sale at any time and the right to reject all bids.
