City Council Special Meeting

Notice is hereby given that the Roanoke Rapids City Council will hold a Special Meeting on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at J. Reuben Daniel City Hall and Police Station, 1040 Roanoke Avenue, Roanoke Rapids, NC. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss proposed revisions to the Roanoke Rapids Code of Ordinances.

City Council Regular Meeting

Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 5:15 p.m. in the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:   

The City of Roanoke Rapids is accepting applications for the following positions:

(Part Time) Library Assistant (Roanoke Rapids Public Library)

An employee in this class performs various clerical duties at the circulation desk in the library.  Weekend and evening hours are required. This employee will also assist at the Roanoke Canal Museum when needed.

Desirable Education and Experience:

Graduation from high school and some experience in library work including shelving books and assisting patrons at the circulation desk is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of library practices and procedures.

Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including automated systems and computer operations.

Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and patrons using the library. (Open until filled)

Recreation Program Supervisor (Aquatic Center - Parks & Recreation)

A candidate in this class plans, coordinates and supervises the Aquatic Center programs and activities.  A successful candidate will have demonstrated management experience in the aquatics field, strong supervisory skills and ability to motivate a team, and a strong sense of safety with the ability to implement good practices  

Desired Qualifications:  - High school diploma or equivalent. – Graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in recreation administration, physical education or related degree and considerable experience in the recreational programming preferred- Certified in American Red Cross CPR/AED preferred, First Aid & Lifeguarding preferred -3yrs. of lifeguarding experience preferred -Management experience – Must have excellent people service skills - Ability to provide service with integrity -Good verbal and written communication skills.  Must hold a valid Class C North Carolina Driver’s License. (Open until filled)

Police Officer (Roanoke Rapids Police Department)

An employee in this class performs a full range of general law enforcement duties to protect life and property in the City. Basic Law Enforcement Training is preferred but not required. (Open Until Filled)
