Kidnapping victim forced to withdraw funds

A woman pictured in the above photo is one of two people wanted in a February 7 kidnapping where an elderly Roanoke Rapids woman was forced to go to two banks and withdraw large sums of money from her account.

An investigation by the U.S. Postal Service has been launched after an off-duty Roanoke Rapids police officer reportedly detected the odor of marijuana inside the city post office Tuesday afternoon.

Monday was apparently a day for brazen acts of crime in Roanoke Rapids, as police reported a 69-year-old woman was robbed of a cell phone in her pocket and another thief helped himself to a pocketbook as the victim stopped to tend to her infant child.
