The Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets Men's soccer team traveled to Granville Central to open conference play.

Roanoke Rapids outlasted Granville Central to win the match 1-0.

Carson Neal with the goal for Roanoke Rapids with Emerson Escobar with the assist.

AJ Pearson had 8 saves in goal for the Yellow Jackets.

Post match comments from Jackets head coach Craig Jean, "We looked so much better tonight. Our defense showed up, helping AJ Pearson get the shutout. This game is a big step in the right direction. It is always a battle at Granville Central, but it is a big momentum boost to start the year 2-0 with tough opening matches and on the road verses what has been our toughest conference  opponent. My boys  broke our new white jerseys in right & we definitely have something to build on now. Our effort tonight was what I expect from this group and I am very proud of them"
