On its website, the college said the campus will reopen at 1 p.m. for faculty and staff.
HCC President Michael Elam said the first threat was called in around 8:15 this morning and then a few seconds later another call was placed and the caller used an expletive.
Weldon police Chief James Avens said the threat targeted the 100 building. Local and regional law enforcement with bomb dogs were dispatched to the school including the Virginia State Police and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

The threat led to the evacuation of the school, Elam said. High school students taking classes were bussed to another location as were students in the childcare program.
Other students were led to different rallying points across the campus.
“We have to take these threats seriously because of the rash of bombings in other states,” Elam said.
If there was anything positive to gain from the disruption, Elam said, “It gave us an opportunity to test our emergency management processes. We’re prepared to do what it takes to keep people safe.”
Avens said investigation continues.
