The break-in occurred shortly before 11 p.m., according to Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim left home around 6 p.m. and when they returned discovered someone had been in the house and gone through all the bedrooms.
According to the report by Sergeant Randy Keeton, athletic shoes, baseball caps and large amounts of clothing were taken. Also stolen was a PlayStation II, a Wii gaming system, jewelry, United States coins and a trumpet.
Martin said the pesos are valued at $4,000 and the items were placed in a Flex Taekwondo bag.
Martin said businesses should call law enforcement if someone tries to convert the pesos or call the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201, Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or 911.
