Thaxton surrenders with attorney present

A man wanted in a March cocaine transaction surrendered to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department Tuesday morning with his attorney.

William Joshua Thaxton, 22, of Dunbar, West Virginia, surrendered around 11 a.m., Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement.
It was not clear whether Thaxton had been in West Virginia during the time he was being sought by the City County Drug Task Force, Hasty and task force Captain A.M. Harris said this morning.
Another person in the case, Saquan Vincent, surrendered Monday, the task force said.
Thaxton was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sell schedule II, deliver schedule II, and conspire to sell and deliver schedule II.
He received a $10,000 bond and May 24 court date.

Virginia suspect arrested

Also on Monday around 2:45 p.m., Lieutenant C.L. Vaught and Investigator G.L. Williams arrested Dustin Lee Musick, 32, of Roanoke Rapids, on a fugitive warrant in the 900 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.
Investigators received a call from the Greensville County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance in locating Musick who was wanted for an alleged sexual assault.
He received a $100,000 bond and June 7 court date

Domestic disturbance

On Tuesday around 7:45 p.m., officers R. Cross and J. Mason responded to a residence in the 300 block of Jefferson Street about a disturbance.
During the investigation officers learned Kayleigh Ariel Pierce, 16, allegedly stabbed another family member with a pair of scissors during a dispute.
Pierce was arrested and charged with assault inflicting serious injury.
She received a $5,000 bond and May 19 court date.
Hasty said the victim was treated by EMS at the scene.
