Homerun derby and fellowship meal at 2017 Battle of the Border

The Roanoke Rapids High School Athletics and RRspin.com Sports sponsored Friday's 2017 Battle of the Border Home Run Derby, speaker and fellowship hotdog meal.

Roanoke Rapids Lady Jackets 1st Battle of the Border softball tournament homerun derby had two players from Roanoke Rapids, JH Rose, Brunswick Academy and Greenbrier Christian Academy competing for the Home Run champ. Each player was allowed to hit five balls soft tossed to see who could make it over the outfield which was a 200 foot distance.

 

Players in the Home Run Derby were:

Roanoke Rapids - Breanna Allen and Caitlin Bobbitt

Greenbrier Christian Academy - Arianna Burford and Karly Packert

Brunswick Academy -Kelsey Holloway and Katherine Daniel

J H Rose - Lindsay Gribble and Delaney Byrne

 

On round one of the eight batters only three advance with one homerun each, Breanna Allen from Roanoke Rapids, Lindsay Gribble from JH Rose and Arianna Burford from Greenbrier Christian Academy.

 

In round two of the three batters, Breanna Allen from Roanoke Rapids hit one, while from Greenbrier Christian Academy hit three dingers to win the RRspin.com Sports Home Run Derby.

 

After game two of the day, players, coaches and parents were treated to a little softball talk with Barton College head softball coach Jr. Bailey and then some fellowship with a hotdog, chip and drink meal provided by Roanoke Rapids Athletics and RRspin.com Sports.
