A juvenile has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his father Thursday night in the Darlington community.

Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said the murder of Michael Allen Murray, who was in is 40s, appears to be tied to a domestic issue. He declined to elaborate.
The shooting occurred on Hedgepeth Road around 8 p.m. and the male juvenile was taken into secured custody with the state Department of Juvenile Justice in Greenville.
Tripp said there is evidence in the case which could possibly lead to the juvenile being tried as an adult but added, “That’s a decision that needs to be made by the district attorney.”
He said he could not immediately discuss the evidence.
Tripp said Murray was shot multiple times in the upper torso.
