Williams named the ODAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

FOREST, Va.- Freshman women’s basketball player Kelly Williams (Garysburg, Va./ Halifax Academy) was named the ODAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

She and the Yellow Jackets went 3-1, including with two wins in the Daytona Beach Shootout. Williams averaged 14.75 points per game, 10.5 rebounds per game and three blocks per game in that stretch.

Williams tallied two double-doubles in the four games. In the 50-41 win over Elizabethtown she grabbed 11 rebounds and scored 10 points. Then the next day, she scored 17 points, shooting 50% from the field and recorded 15 rebounds. Williams now has six double-doubles this season.

Williams had her career best in points in the 77-67 win over Wheaton (Mass.). Kelly was 9 for 11 from the field with 23 points. She added eight rebounds in that game. In the four games, Kelly averaged three blocks per game, including a season best five blocks versus Edgewood.

She currently leads the ODAC in offensive rebounds (56), total rebounds (124) and rebounds per game with 12.4. Williams sits in seventh overall in scoring, averaging 15.4 points per game.

R-MC will be back on the court on Tuesday, January 3 when it travels to Bridgewater for ODAC play. The game will take place at 7:00 p.m.
