Full Racing Program Again Tonight (Saturday September 10th) headlined By The I-95 Late Model Challenge Series Championship Race.

On Friday night Sept 9, the I-95 Late Model Challenge Series invaded the 3/10 Ring Of Fire in Brinkleyville, NC for the first of 2 nights of Championship racing for the series. The Pure Stock V8's and U-Cars joined the Late Models on the program and gave the fans a great night of awesome racing!

It would be Russell Erwin of Beaver Dam, VA setting on pole for the Late Model main event qualifying with a time of 14.581 seconds to best the field of 21 Late Models entered. Outside of Erwin on the front row would be Smithfield, VA's Brent Robinson to lead the field to green for 30 laps of racing. Erwin and Robinson would race side by side for the lead for all 30 laps with Robinson on the high side and Erwin racing hard to his inside all the way lap after lap. Behind the leaders the entire field raced hard for each and every position, often 2 and 3 wide with many position changes on every lap. With 3 laps to go it would be Erwin who would find the bite down low and pull ahead with 3 laps to go, but Robinson would not relent and fought back to Erwins inside for the final 3 circuits. Erwin held on for a thrilling win as he crossed under the checkered flag by a car length to pick up $2,500 and another highly popular win, solidifying his points lead in the series. After the race, fans in attendance said this was one of the best late model races they had ever witnessed on the series and are looking forward to tonights event as more late models will be entered and the racing is expected to be just as great!
