CMAC, doing business as Logan’s Roadhouse, has 18 restaurants. “We are fiscally sound. We don’t make snap decisions,” Stettler said.
Logan’s opened in Roanoke Rapids in 2006. “We’ve seen progressive growth.”
Over the years, he said, the restaurant has been active in numerous community causes. “We support schools and teachers. We have live music Thursdays. We support the hospital, Rural Health. We’re $40,000 away from giving $1 million to breast cancer research.”
The restaurant has been involved in National Night Out and provided free food to help support law enforcement. “We’re in it for the long ride.”
Stettler said he wasn’t surprised at the news reported recently in Bloomberg the national chain was considering filing for bankruptcy. “Knowing the way they operate, they get what they ask for.”
The McWhorter Family, which runs the 18 franchises, does business differently than corporate, Stettler said. “We buy local sweet potatoes, we hand cut our salads, and make our own soup .”
The customers at the restaurant are overwhelmingly local, he said. “You’ll see people from Walmart, the hospital everywhere.”
And the live music on Thursdays, he said, helps bring in new faces. “They have their own following. They bring in their own crowd support which helps our cause.”
