Team Wild Child owned by Mason and Lauren Price of Roanoke Rapids is in it's second year with driver Willie Milliken and the winning combination is starting to pay off.
On the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model circuit, the top finishers in heat races draw for their starting positions at the front of the field. Milliken, who led every lap of his heat race and the fastest of 30 qualifiers, reached into the Craftsman toolbox and drew out the number 1 starting spot for the feature.
“The draw was real important,” said Milliken, who had never before won a Super Late Model race after making his first starts in the class late last year. “That’s what helped me the most. I just gave it all I had.”
Milliken lead all fifty laps in the feature and outlasted the field full of full-time, nationally touring professionals. Four-time national champion Earl Pearson Jr. and Jonathan Davenport, last year’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt titlist.
Milliken earned $10,000 for his win just beating Illinois, driver Brian Shirley by 1.184 seconds..
Pearson took third ahead of Outlaws points leader Josh Richards, a three-time series champ. Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Arkansas, was fifth, and Davenport, the current Lucas points leader, finished sixth.
