Clay recognized as HRMC Employee of the Quarter

Halifax Regional nurse April Clay was recognized as the Employee of the Quarter.

Clay, who works in the Halifax Regional Birthing Center was honored during a luncheon held at the Medical Center.

Clay promotes and advances the profession of nursing in a positive way and sets an example for her co-workers.

Working with both patients and nursing students the Birthing Center consistently receives positive letters and comments praising Clay’s the clinical skills, professionalism, kindness and customer service.

She demonstrates excellent clinical skills and customer service in all interactions. Patients have made several positive comments about Clay including "loved my nurse, she looked after me and the baby in a wonderful way."

And, "We were so comfortable with such a great nurse like her."

Clay recently volunteered to be the coordinator of the NC Healthy Start Program on Safe Sleep Program for the Birthing Center.

Her hard work and team approach helped the Medical Center receive the "Safe Sleep Center of Excellence” recognition from NC Healthy Start Foundation.

In addition to being recognized as an Employee of the Quarter, she has been nominated every year for the past nine years for the Medical Center’s Nurse Excellence Award.

“April radiates energy and enthusiasm by keeping a smile on her face always and having a kind word for everyone. She makes a difference by always putting her patients first,” said Birthing Center Manager Amy Joseph.
